ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - The latest fire restrictions are in place or about to be at three state parks and the village of Ruidoso because of bone-dry conditions.
Stage 1 restrictions took effect Wednesday at Sugarite Canyon and Cimarron Canyon state parks in northeastern New Mexico.
Similar restrictions at Bottomless Lake State Park near Roswell go into effect Friday morning.
The restrictions prohibit open fires and charcoal outside developed sites and limit smoking within the parks.
Smoking will be allowed only in enclosed vehicles and in developed recreation sites.
On Thursday morning Ruidoso is moving to Stage 2 restrictions, which bans all open and charcoal fires and smoking except within enclosed vehicles and buildings.
