ALBUQUERQUE (AP) - The National Weather Service has issued a high wind warning for much of New Mexico as gusts are expected to top 60 mph.
The state Transportation Department is warning travelers about the possibility of reduced visibility along some highways, and the city of Albuquerque has issued a dust notice.
The wind also forced the University of New Mexico to postpone Saturday's softball and baseball games.
The wind is the result of a powerful cold front and storm system that's moving across northern and central New Mexico. The storm is also bringing colder temperatures and some snow to the northeastern corner of the state.
Severe driving conditions were reported along Interstate 25 near Raton due to blowing snow.
The strongest winds were expected Saturday afternoon into the evening hours.
