ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - A lot of New Mexicans were glued to their televisions Saturday night, cheering on a local man who is making international sports news.
MMA. Fighter Carlos Condit was in a fight with Georges St. Pierre in Canada and Albuquerque is cashing in too.
It was a huge night for Condit and many New Mexicans were rooting for him.
The fight was pay-per view, so a lot of people are packing movie theaters and bars to watch Condit.
At Sneakers Bar there were a lot of screaming fans and even people who aren't mixed martial arts fans are into the fight because Condit is a local.
An Albuquerque native and Cibola high school graduated was in the biggest fight of his 10-year career.
The fans here say they wanted to watch and let Condit know they "have his back."

Business at New Mexico bars goes up 20 to 30 percent every time they show a New Mexico fighter.
In the end, Condit lost. St. Pierre won a unanimous decision by scores of 50 to 45 twice and 49 to 46.
