RUIDOSO, N.M. (KRQE) - People in Ruidoso could soon be hit with a significant water rate increase.
The village council is considering raising rates so they can pay for some infrastructure improvements.
One proposal on the table would increase the base rate by $5 per month and cut the allotted base usage in half.
Councilors are in the early stages of discussion and want to allow the public to give its input.
There is also talk about raising property taxes to cover the cost instead of messing with utility bills.
