WASHINGTON (KRQE) - In his first speech on the Senate floor Martin Heinrich pressed for continued funding for New Mexico's military bases and national labs.
"Even in this challenging fiscal environment we must make the investments that have paid dividends for our nation time and time again," Heinrich said in the speech broadcast and stream online by CSPAN-2.
During his speech Heinrich pointed out that New Mexico has become the birthplace of technologies that have changed the world.
The Democrat also talked about the important role the state has played in the defense of the country and space exploration.
