Weather Underground Forecast for Thursday, September 26, 2013.
Active weather will persist across the West on Thursday, while a stationary front lingers over the Southeast and triggers more showers and thunderstorm activity.
Stormy weather will impact the northern Rockies on Thursday as a low pressure system continues trekking eastward throughout the day. Showers will diminish across Washington and Oregon, but persist across Idaho, Nevada and into Montana and Wyoming. Heavier rain is expected along the leading edge of this system as it pushes a cold front eastward across the northern Rockies and into the northern Plains. This system will drive heavy snow through the higher elevations of the Rockies due to cooler temperatures in the mountains. Thus, winter storm warnings will remain in effect for these areas. The tail end of the cold front may kick up a few light showers over California, but significant precipitation is not anticipated.
A ridge of high pressure will continue to bring autumn like weather to the Northeast and parts of the upper Midwest as cool, dry air will be drawn in from the north. Temperatures will range from the 60s to 70s during the day and into the 40s and 50s at night. Humidity levels will remain low, which will bring pleasant conditions to the region. Meanwhile in the Southeast, wet weather will continue to impact several states. Thunderstorms will move through Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and even as far north as Virginia as a stationary front treks off of the coast. Besides Florida, the remainder of the Gulf Coast is expected to stay clear of any stormy weather on Thursday.
Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Wednesday have ranged from a morning low of 28 degrees at Leadville, Colo. to a high of 98 degrees at Cotulla, Texas
