A ridge of high pressure will continue to build along the western third of the country, while a cold front is expected to move over the central U.S.
The West Coast can expect clear, sunny conditions on Monday due to a high pressure system along the coasts of Washington and Oregon. Temperatures will range between the 60s and 70s in Oregon, Washington, and along the California coast, while inland temperatures will push into the 80s and 90s in the Southwest.
To the east, a cold frontal boundary will stretch from Texas to Michigan, as widespread rain and snow will impact several regions. Along the southern portion of the front, light rain and snow will be possible in the southeastern Rockies during the morning, while more moderate rain will will develop over the southern Plains and lower Mississippi Valley in the afternoon. Rain will also be possible in the northern Plains, while the upper Midwest can expect moderate to heavy snow. Towards the afternoon and evening, wet weather will develop over the Ohio Valley and into the Northeast. The Mid-Atlantic and Northeast coasts will avoid precipitation through Monday.
The Gulf Coast states can expect showers and thunderstorms throughout the day due to a pair of low pressure systems along the coasts of Texas and Florida.
Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Sunday have ranged from a morning low of 17 degrees at Gunnison, Colo. to a high of 91 degrees at Opa Locka, Fla.
