Weather Underground Forecast for Thursday, October 17, 2013.
A cold front will stretch from the central Rockies to the upper Midwest on Thursday, while high pressure is expected to build over the Pacific Northwest.
The West Coast will experience clear conditions on Thursday as high pressure builds over the region. This ridge of high pressure will bring slightly warmer weather to the Pacific Northwest, while the Southwest will experience a much more pronounced warming trend. Temperatures will range between the 80s and 90s in the southern California and Arizona deserts, while coastal temperatures will range between the 60s and 70s. To the east, a cold frontal boundary will produce snow showers in the Rockies and parts of the northern Plains, as well as rain in the southern Plains and into the upper Midwest. The central and lower Mississippi Valley will avoid most of the precipitation associated with this cold front.
A more extensive cold front will stretch from the western Gulf Coast to New England as widespread rain will impact the eastern third of the country. The western and central Gulf Coast, including Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama, will experience rain and thunderstorms throughout the day, and rain will also move through the Appalachian States and into the Northeast on Thursday. Florida may experience thunderstorms along the southern tip of the state, but will stay relatively dry elsewhere.
Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Wednesday have ranged from a morning low of 12 degrees at West Yellowstone, Mont. to a high of 92 degrees at Edinburg, Texas
