PHILADELPHIA (AP) — The FBI has captured a fugitive in the Philippines, 20 years after he allegedly gunned down his wife's friend in a crowded Philadelphia restaurant.
Authorities say 71-year-old Santiago Pedroso is back in the U.S. to face murder charges in the death of 41-year-old Delores Alvarez.
Newspaper reports from 1992 say Pedroso's estranged wife had moved in with Alvarez before he ran into them at a restaurant on Father's Day.
A Philadelphia Inquirer story says the suspect shot Alvarez five times as his teenage daughter shouted for him to stop.
Authorities in the Philippines arrested Pedroso in Manila on Sept. 9. He is in the custody of the city of Philadelphia. It's not clear whether he has a lawyer.
The Inquirer story described Pedroso as a spiritualist who ran a religious bookstore.
