ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Schools across the city deal with drivers behaving badly, but one school has it particularly bad.
One woman made it her mission to show just how dangerous things can get near Hodgin Elementary.
On the first day of school, Kathy Kleyboecker grabbed her camera and caught the drivers in action.
"It was worse than I had ever seen last year - and it was chaos last year. The parents, they run the stop signs," she said. "They're just not courteous drivers and someone is going to get hurt, whether it be a child and a parent."
Now the intersection has the attention of APD.
"We have officers here in the morning and in the afternoon working on this to try to find a solution, or at least try to facilitate traffic through this intersection," said Simon Drobik of APD.
City Councilor Janice Arnold-Jones says she was shocked to see the carelessness of drivers in Kleyboecker's videos and vowed to address the situation. For starters, traffic lines will be repainted.
She says the biggest solution comes down to drivers not thinking about who could be affected.
"At the end of the day, for the safety of our children - it is APS, it is the teachers, the crossing guards, the police department, but mostly it is us - and we have to commit to being being patient and putting safety first," she said.
APD says they plan to patrol the area during pick-up and drop-off times for the next two weeks.
APS was unable to provide information on whether they had a plan to address the school's traffic problems.
