ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Even Mother Nature couldn’t stop Thursday’s groundbreaking ceremony of the much-anticipated Montaño Transit Center.
Wet weather conditions lead to shovels of mud rather than dirt at the soon-to-be transit hub on Montaño near Edith.
The $7.1 million project will serve both ABQ Ride and New Mexico's Rail Runner Express.
“We think this will help with some of the redevelopment and development within this portion in the valley,” said Bruce Rizzieri, director of ABQ Ride.
Along with bus bays, the station will also be complete with a 291-space parking lot, bike racks, lockers and free Wi-Fi service.
The project is expected to be completed by January of 2014.
