SANTA FE (KRQE) - Santa Fe police have released the names of two officers who opened fire on a man last week.
Thursday night just before midnight officers spotted a Ford Explorer at an Allsups.
As they approached, they say driver, Roberto Mendez-Ortega, rammed a patrol car, then tried to run officers over.
That's when two officers, John Debaca and Stephen Forte, opened fire and hit Mendez-Ortega in the cheek.
Mendez-Ortega is expected to recover.
There were four other people in the car when police started shooting including a 4-year-old boy.
Debaca has been with the force since May 2011 and Forte is an 18-year-old veteran.
State Police is investigating.
