ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - A mother whose daughter was killed by two suspected drag racers wants to know who is vandalizing her memorial.
Last summer, police say David Jansen and Anthony Ramos were going about 100 mph down central when they slammed into 27-year-old Tara Garcia's car.
She died a few days later.
Shortly after, a descanso was set up at the intersection in her honor.
Last week, someone stole it and when the family put up another one, it was vandalized.
Teresa had two kids and her family says they come often to the spot to remember their mother:
“My daughter wouldn't hurt anyone,” said Angela Garica. “We're still hurting, and for someone to come and do this, I don't understand.”
In June, Jansen pled guilty to vehicular homicide and was sentenced to nine months in prison.
Ramos’ case is still making its way through the system.
