ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - A former St. Pius X High School football star will spend the next 10 years in prison for killing his brother.
Zach Pagett was sentenced Thursday in District Court in Albuquerque.
He was 22 years old in 2008 when he killed his older brother Neal and then buried him in the basement of their father's home.
Pagett told detectives his brother was part of a conspiracy and was killed to save the world.
He spent years at the state hospital in Las Vegas until he was found competent for trial on a charge of second-degree murder. He pleaded guilty in Septembe r.
The judge did give him credit for time already served.
