ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - A man, who was convicted of second-degree murder seven years ago, is about to get a new trial after state Supreme Court justices ruled the judge at the time made a mistake.
Manuel Turrietta has been in prison since 2006 for killing a 21-year-old man in a gang-related shooting and other charges.
The court ruled that the district court judge improperly closed the courtroom to certain spectators during part of Turrietta's trial.
They were ex-gang members and police confidential informants.
It was an effort to protect two witnesses.
No word yet on when trial will begin.
