ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Police say one woman may have repeatedly stabbed another woman this week because of a club disc jockey.
Latisha Saavedra, 25, faces charges of attempted murder and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon after police say she brutally attacked a woman early Monday morning.
"Miss Saavedra was possibly having a relationship with a known DJ in the Albuquerque-area, and (the victim) may have also had a relationship with him, too," Albuquerque Police Department Officer Simon Drobik said.
The victim and Saavedra ended up at a southeast Albuquerque apartment complex after visiting the DJ's club Sunday night. Police say Saavedra spit in the victim's face and that things quickly escalated.
According to the criminal complaint, Saavedra may have been upset after seeing the victim and club DJ share a "friendly hug in the nightclub" Sunday night.
"Words were exchanged with individuals inside that party, and it spilled out into the streets," Drobik said.
According to a criminal complaint, Saavedra allegedly pulled the victim out of a car by her hair before pulling a knife and stabbing her 15 times.
"Pretty brutal crime. Multiple stab wounds in a very forceful manner," Drobik said. "In fact, she had to be ripped off that individual to stop the action."
Police say Saavedra then fled the scene.
The victim was rushed to UNM Hospital by her friends with a punctured colon and lacerated diaphragm. At last word, she was still listed in critical condition after having undergone at least two surgeries.
Saavedra's bond was set at $50,000 Wednesday by a Metropolitan Court judge.
Some brazen thieves made off with a man's prized possession, and now the victim is hoping for some holiday justice. Little did the suspects' know, their entire crime was caught on camera.
