ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Steve Chavez, the former Albuquerque firefighter, accused of working with a Mexican drug cartel, is back behind bars.
Court records show he was arrested Thursday morning for violating his conditions of release. The records don't say what the violation was.
Chavez was arrested in February 2012 for his alleged role in a multimillion-dollar operation headed up by the Sinaloa cartel.
Drug Enforcement Administration investigators alleged Chavez was raking in hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash by making constant trips to Florida to set up cocaine deals.
He was released on bond about a month later and also was fired by the city.
Some brazen thieves made off with a man's prized possession, and now the victim is hoping for some holiday justice. Little did the suspects' know, their entire crime was caught on camera.
