ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - New ideas for charging up New Mexico's economy were at the center of a summit Friday at the University of New Mexico.
The event is a gathering of educators and government and business leaders.
The question at hand is how to tap into the state's top research universities--UNM, New Mexico State and New Mexico Tech--as sources of solutions to stimulate the economy.
"Just think: a university advancing educational training and research breakthroughs, then transferring the knowledge from the community through the development of commercial applications and products," Martinez told the audience.
Two dozen breakout sessions were planned for the afternoon to map out the top solutions.
Then UNM President Robert Frank will work with collaborators to put those ideas to work.
