AUSTIN (KXAN) - A 16-month-old girl is a fish in the water, able to swim across a pool without any help but her own two feet!
Adam BC posted the video on YouTube -- which now has more than 1.6 million views -- showing his daughter Elizabeth navigating the pool like a pro.
While the video is astoundingly adorable, many have posted heated comments expressing their disapproval of the baby's skills at work.
Still, the father did tell viewers he is a registered nurse and that his wife was a life guard for six years and taught swimming for three. He goes on to post that both he and his wife are both professionally trained in CPR and water safety, even certified in advanced pediatric life support.
"At no point do we force our child to do anything she is unwilling to try. We are able to recognize infant/toddler fatigue in the swimming pool," posted Adam. "Elizabeth is a very determined little girl and sometimes she wants to roll over and breathe as she was taught and sometimes she wants to hold her breath the whole way. I was 100 percent prepared to jump in at first sign of distress."
Elizabeth has reportedly been trained properly by Infant Swimming Resource- certified instructors.
"Teach your child how to swim because it only takes a moment for them to slip under and drown," read the post. "Sometimes the difference between life and death can be 6 inches of water and their ability to flip over on their back and take a breath."
Elizabeth flips over and floats on her back whenever she gets tired or is out of breath.
"Please! Do not just throw your child in the water and expect them to swim," advises the father on YouTube. "That is both dangerous and a quick way to traumatize your child and scare them from ever swimming."
