My own practice emphasizes law in the areas of Personal Injury, Wrongful Death, Insurance, Construction Defects and Contracts. The bulk of my practice involves finding remedies for people who have been injured due to the negligence of others. This type of law is called “torts” and often includes insurance law issues. We are very familiar with insurance companies that will do anything to avoid paying claims. Insurance companies know which law firms try their cases and which ones just attempt to settle them. If you are not represented by a law firm that tries cases, your case will not receive its full value.

Kathleen D. Carter is a native New Mexican who has practiced law in Albuquerque for twenty years. She headed every major division of the District Attorney’s Office in her ten years there. She was a Metropolitan Court Judge and has spent eight years in private practice concentrating in Family Law.

Susan Carter graduated from the University of New Mexico School of Law in 2005. After graduation, she worked for the judges in Chaves, Eddy, and Lea Counties, then moved to Santa Fe to clerk at the New Mexico Supreme Court. She joined the Carter Law Firm in 2008, where she practices primarily in domestic relations.

Elizabeth V. Han, a former Guardian ad Litem and Prosecutor, obtained her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of California, Berkeley and her Juris Doctorate from the University of California, Los Angeles. (UCLA) She worked in both the state and federal Criminal Divisions, as well as being a prosecutor under New Mexico District Attorneys Romero and Brandenburg.

Richard J. Valle graduated from the University of Texas School of Law in 1991 and has joined the firm in August 2006 after several years of practice as a defense attorney. Even while he was a defense attorney, he frequently represented injured plaintiffs. His primary practice area is in personal injury (including wrongful death actions), medical malpractice, products liability and insurance bad faith. Mr. Valle also handles general business litigation, including construction defect claims and complex litigation (including class actions).

Susan Widner is a Native New Mexican born in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Ms. Widner earned her bachelors degree from the University of New Mexico with a major in Economics and a minor in Political Science and her Juris Doctorate at the University of New Mexico School of Law. She is admitted to practice law in State and Federal Courts in New Mexico and Arizona. Ms. Widner is also admitted to appear in the Tribal Courts of the Navajo Nation.
