Winter returns to northern New Mexico

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - The latest winter storm to hit New Mexico brought wind and snow along with dicey driving conditions.

The northern part of the state got the brunt of it turning roads icy and slick from the Four Corners to the eastern plains.

Just south of Cuba flurries cut visibility Friday afternoon but didn't stick to ground.

And closer to Albuquerque and Santa Fe light snowfall caused few problems.

But the combination of snow and wind caused difficult driving conditions particularly in San Juan County and along the Interstate 25 corridor from south of Las Vegas to Raton Pass..

Drivers on U.S. Highway 550 up and over the Continental Divide also dealt with snowpacked and icy conditions.

By later afternoon no roads were closed and wet pavement was predicted to ice over with dropping temperatures.
