ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - The winds caused issues across Albuquerque Sunday.
In downtown, massive wind gusts toppled over an entire metal billboard.
One of the ads blew right off and the beam holding up the sign was completely bent.
That sign was not the only casualty to the wind...
Some trees were even uprooted.
On the Westside, the high winds mixed with the dry mesa made for difficult driving conditions -
Brown out conditions slowed traffic down on I-40 near Unser.
At times visibility was so low drivers could not see cars less than a half mile in front or behind them.
In the northeast heights, apartment tenants heard a loud cracking noise when the winds blew over a huge tree sending it crashing down on the pool.
Another tree was split in half.
The huge section that split off toppled into the street blocking traffic and a scare for one woman - when power lines in her backyard snapped.
“All of a sudden the lights started to flicker, we heard a loud popping sound and the wires snapped in the back yard and my backyard caught on fire little patches,” Jaclynn Mora.
