ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - A dangerous storm that prompted a tornado warning and reports of half-dollar-size hail churned through north-central New Mexico Friday afternoon.
The tornado warning issued shortly after 5 p.m. became a severe-thunderstorm warning at about 5:45 staying in effect until shortly after 6 p.m.
During that time the storm, part of a line of storms that also hit the area around Los Alamos, trailed northeasterly through the Pecos high country and over the valley communities northwest of Las Vegas and east of Mora.
So far there are no reports of a tornado touching down or any storm-related damage.
The line of storms did leave hail nearly 1 inch in diameter at Eldorado southeast of Santa Fe.
A tornado watch also is in effect until 2 a.m. Saturday for Lea and Eddy counties in southeastern New Mexico and adjacent counties in West Texas with ongoing reports of large storms across eastern New Mexico.
