NM road conditions around the state

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Snow, rain and ice caused a headache for New Mexico drivers Wednesday morning.

In Santa Fe, the roads looked good but farther north and west it is a different story.

New Mexico 96 and U.S. 285 and 550 had extremely dangerous driving conditions.

The same is true out west; I-40 were a mess near Grants and Gallup. The road is open but it is snow packed and icy, the same goes for some state highways including 371 and 602.

Crews closed I-40 eastbound at Louisiana to Moriarty and I-40 westbound from Moriarty to Tramway for a couple hours Wednesday. The roads have since reopened.

South of Gallup the state highways near Silver City did not look good specifically NM 35 and 152.

There are a lot of other areas that are snow packed and icy Wednesday morning as well.

Drivers are urged to drive carefully.
