NM crews work to keep roads clear

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - New Mexico road crews were hard at work this weekend doing their best to keep the roads clear and safe for drivers.

Roads are wet and may be slippery in the metro area but driving conditions are downright dicey in McKinley and Cibola Counties, according to the Department of Transportation’s website.
 
The road in Pojoaque Sunday has snow on the ground, but the roads are clear although black ice can always be a factor.
 
Now the DOT says driving conditions are difficult along New Mexico 518, 120, 105 and 121.
 
These roads have been plowed with salting and cindering, but drivers are advised to use extreme caution.
 
Crews may still be in the areas clearing drifts.

“We have crews working around the clock, 24-7 to make sure things are clear, they're going to be doing that until the storm is over ,” NMDOT spokesperson, Melissa Dosher, said.

Sunday morning, the state's road conditions website is still showing difficult driving conditions from Chama to Taos and Eagle Nest down to Las Vegas, as well roads between Black Lake and Agua Fria.
    
It is also a good idea to keep a close eye out for icy patches on the route from Cuba to Los Alamos if drivers are out before it warms up Sunday morning.
