ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - A wave of storms washing over central New Mexico are dropping rain at the rate of 1.5 inches an hour and may cause some flooding, the National Weather Service is warning.
A weather advisory says arroyos, streams and low water crossing way experience high water and strong flows.
The weather service, however, has not yet issued a flash-flood warning, the next step above an advisory.
Dark and descending clouds have prompted concerns about funnel clouds, but none has been concerned.
Winds gusts up to 40 mph are possible, however, the weather service said.
Shortly before 5 p.m. the weather service expanded the advisory to include the Jemez Mountains and in particular the Las Conchas Fire burn scar.
Radar estimates indicated up to 0.75 inches of rain already had fallen in some areas with an additional 0.75 inches possible through 8 p.m.
