ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Driving conditions are listed as fair to difficult in northwestern New Mexico along Interstate 40 and north and south of Gallup as a wintry storm blows through the state.

The New Mexico Department of Transportation describes I-40 driving as difficult over the Continental Divide between Prewitt and Iyanbito with conditions improving to fair from Iyanbito through Gallup to the Arizona state line.

As of 9 a.m. the ground was white with some accumulation of snow on the pavement, according to NMDOT and its traffic camera on the divide.  Visibility was reduced but still labeled as fair.

Difficult driving was also reported on U.S. Highway 491 north of Gallup and state roads from U.S. 491 to Arizona.  South of Gallup snow also was reported on State Routes 53 and 602 from Gallup to Zuni Pueblo and from the southern Zuni Mountains through the pueblo to Arizona.
