ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - The Mid-Region Council of Governments is seeking public input on improving transportation through the areas of UNM, CNM and the Sunport.
Officials with MRCOG estimate that about 74,000 drivers pass through the congested areas on a daily basis. This round of meetings will focus on the different plans to improve traffic in the area over the course of the next 10 years or so.
Costs for the project have still not been established, but MRCOG will likely seek out federal dollars to pay for the projects.
"Again, this is a critical study because this is a major area of congestion we're looking at over the next several years," says Augusta Meyers from the Mid-Region Council of Governments. "So it gives people an opportunity to have input on the access and mobility that's going to affect their lives."
Wednesday's meeting will be from noon to 1 p.m. in the Student Union Building on the UNM campus, in Lobo Rooms A and B.
The last meeting for the public input sessions will be on Tuesday, February 5.
