ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - In the midnight tip-off game, the UNM Lobo Men's Basketball team beat Davidson College from North Carolina. The game was televised on ESPN, this was the first time since 2005 when they beat Air Force.
As for the late game game, about 14,000 fans packed the Pit and were howling the entire time as the Lobos won 86 to 81.
It was a close victory, but a great comeback considering they were down by about 16 points at one time during the game. Nevertheless, they pulled out the victory with a whole lot of support from the fans.
"You just can't say enough good things about our crowd," says UNM Basketball Head Coach Steve Alford. "I thought our kids were playing hard, we were just getting ourselves beat, the crowd just never gave up and they just continued to work for us and we got a little bit of a rhythm and the crowd went to a whole other level..."
The lobos will be back on television for their next game, that's this Friday against the University of Illinois Chicago Flames.
That will be in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands on the CBS Sports Network.
