ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Albuquerque's West Side golfers got some good news Thursday as the much-needed irrigation upgrade at Ladera Golf Course wrapped up.
The $2 million revamp is one result of a bond-issue borrowing approved by voters in 2009.
The redesign includes more than 1,600 new sprinkler heads, back-to-back irrigation around the greens and a new filtration system estimated to save 25 percent of watering costs every year.
"City golf courses are like a business, and this upgrade is a step forward in capturing stability without which we can't support the golf community in the city of Albuquerque," Mayor Richard J. Berry said.
Berry says there will be post-construction specials at the golf course through the first of the year including a free bucket of balls and food specials with Perico's on the Green, which has moved into the clubhouse snack bar.
