Retailers make final holiday shopping push

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - It is a day away from Christmas Eve and retailers are making a final push to up their sales this holiday season.
    
Those big sales after Thanksgiving helped boost business across the country.

The national retail federation is expecting holiday sales to continue to grow to four percent over last holiday season.
    
Local Old Town shop owners also shared their thoughts Sunday.
   
It was a mixed bag.

One woman told KRQE News 13 that this has been the worst holiday season for business she's seen.
    
Other stores that cater to a very specific crowd like old town antiques, or that have grown a base of loyal customers like Hernandez fine arts, say business isn't too bad.
    
There were lots of signs advertising sales as shop owners try to give potential customers extra incentive to buy.
    
At Indian Treasures, owners say everything is half off today.

"They’ve been unpredictable,” store owner, Waleid Azizeh, said. “You sit here for three or four hours then you make that one sale. It's like a roller coaster you just have to go with the flow."

Owners in Old Town shared their opinion.

"It’s up and down but if I can say not bad, I figure that's pretty good these days,” Connie Fulwyler of Old Town Antiques said.
    
From shop to shop, many people are not going for those big ticket items.
    
They are looking for gifts that aren't too pricey and they're giving it a lot of thought before buying.
    
Some Albuquerque store owners have been victims of shoplifting this holiday season.
