ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - While many are looking for last minute gifts, pets might not always be the best choice.
Animal Humane says they see a spike in pet returns around the holidays.
Just last week Animal Humane says they saw two returns in 15 minutes.
That's because they say pets that others pick out might not necessarily be the best match:
”A lot of people go out on a limb and decide to go out on a limb and get a kitten or puppy or cat or dog for a loved one no knowing whether or not that family member might be ready to commit to having a pet,” Animal Humane spokesperson, dawn glass, said.
If you're set on getting a pet as a present, animal humane says a better idea might be to get them a pet adoption gift certificate, that way they can pick out a pet that matches them.
