ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Albuquerque police are searching for a man they say crashed into a tree and left an 8-year-old child behind.
Investigators say 38-year-old Alexander Ray Garcia crashed his truck into a tree on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd near I-25 around 7 p.m. Thursday.
When police arrived they found the young girl inside the car, but say Garcia was no where to be found. Police say the girl’s foot was broken in the crash.
Police say the child was not related to Garcia, but confirm that the child’s mother knew him. The girl is back with her mother.
Garcia is facing child abuse charges related to the crash. He has a history of run ins with the law dating back to the 1990s.
Anyone with information on Garcia is asked to contact APD.
