ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - The Albuquerque Police Chief Ray Schultz and Albuquerque Mayor RJ Berry are set to meet Monday to discuss Schultz’s retirement and the future of APD.
Last week Schultz sent a letter to the city saying he will soon retire.
Schultz has held the position as APD Chief since 2006 when he was appointed by former Mayor Martin Chavez.
His decision to step down comes in the midst of a federal probe by the Department of Justice that was sparked by dozens of police involved shootings and allegations of officer misconduct.
