ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - A new video of daredevil Felix Baumgartner’s 24-mile jump shows what the skydiver saw for himself during the fall.

Baumgartner salutes before takes a leap of faith from the edge of space Sunday.

After five years in training for the highest jump in history, Baumgartner broke the sound barrier. That makes him the first person to ever do that outside of a vehicle.

The free fall starts off well with a spectacular view of the earth from 128,000 feet above New Mexico, but then things get shaky. Baumgartner says he was spinning so violently in different direction that he didn’t’ know how to stabilize himself.

During the jump frost also developed on Baumgartner’s visor from the 70-below freezing temperatures, so it was almost as if he was doing the jump blindfolded.

The four minute and twenty second free-fall is the highest and fastest fall of it’s kind. But Baumgartner opened his chute a bit too early to beat Joe Kittinger’s length of time in a free fall, missing that record by 16 seconds.
