WISTER, Okla. (CNN/KFSM) - Imagine getting hit by a covered wagon on the highway pulled by mules. That's what happened to police in Oklahoma Saturday night when they arrested Keith Woolery.
Officers say after ramming a police car three times, Woolery refused to get out of his wagon.
Police say this made the mules even faster.
Woolery says he wasn't running from police.
"I was trying to stop the mules," he said. "I don't usually have problems out of them. It's just when they get spooked they do get sideways a little bit."
Woolery says he has brakes on the covered wagon.
Investigators say they couldn't charge him with driving while intoxicated because he wasn't driving a motorized vehicle. Instead, Woolery is accused of public intoxication and assault and battery on a police officer.
