ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Heather Wilson and Martin Heinrich are making a last-minute push, trying to win over voters in the race for New Mexico’s open senate seat.
Wilson went door to door here in Albuquerque Sunday.
Monday she took a whirlwind tour of New Mexico, criss-crossing the state with Governor Susana Martinez by her side.
The day began in Santa Fe, then Clovis and Hobbs where Arizona Senator John McCain spoke on her behalf.
Wilson then was on to Las Cruces and Farmington.
She is also hosting a rally in Albuquerque.
Wilson's democratic opponent Martin Heinrich is also pushing hard.
Monday morning he made phone calls from the south valley before holding a rally at the University of New Mexico.
Also there was U.S. Senator Tom Udall.
A journal poll that came out last week has Heinrich with an 8-point lead over Wilson, 50 to 42 percent.
The two are vying for the seat of longtime Senator Jeff Bingaman, who is retiring after 30 years in office.
