ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - The deadline to get Albuquerque’s minimum wage raised and put on the November ballot is Tuesday, but groups are battling it out in district court Monday.
Supporters are seeking support for a measure that would boost the minimum wage in Albuquerque by $1 but a district court judge will have to put it on November’s ballot after the New Mexico Supreme Court declined to take up the case.
A lawsuit was filed by a group named Ole, who got thousands of people to sign a petition to get the issue on the ballot.
However, the city clerk claims legal problems prevent her from doing that, so Ole sued her last week.
The county clerk has to certify the November ballot by Tuesday, although she says she could push that back by a few days.
