ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Thousands of Albuquerque voters, who did not sign their ballot envelopes in the mail-in city election, will not be allowed to correct that mistake.
The special election to decide if mayor and city council races should have a runoff if no one gets fifty percent started last month.
So far more than 4,000 ballots have come back with unsigned envelopes which mean those votes do not count.
City Clerk Amy Bailey first said those who forgot could come to her office and sign them.
But now she says that's against the city ordinance and the non-signers are out of luck.
State Democratic Chair Javier Gonzales blasted Bailey's decision Tuesday, insisting there's nothing in the law to support it.
