CARLSBAD, N.M. (AP) - The Eddy County Commission is expected to approve a contract Tuesday with a Washington-based lobbying firm to represent the county and city of Carlsbad.
The Carlsbad Current-Argus reports that the city and county each voted recently to hire the C2 Group.
The two governments will equally share in the estimated $150,000 cost of retaining the firm.
The Carlsbad City Council will vote on the lobbying contract at its next meeting.
The city of Artesia declined to join Carlsbad and Eddy County in hiring a lobbyist.
Artesia officials say their lobbying efforts meet the needs of the community in north Eddy County.
Still, the commission awarded Artesia's Chamber of Commerce/Department of Development $90,000 to continue their lobbying efforts on behalf of Artesia.
