SANTA FE (KRQE) - New Mexico appears well on its way to becoming one of the first states to pass stricter gun-control measures.
The state House is expected to vote today on the Firearms Transfer Act.
The law would require background checks for private sales of handguns, rifles and shotguns at gun shows.
Gov. Susana Martinez is expected to sign the bill once it clears both the House and Senate.
