ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - It looks like it will be a two-man race among democrats in the fight for New Mexico’s open U.S. senate seat.
Congressman Martin Heinrich collected 54 percent of the delegate vote at this weekend's democratic pre-primary convention.
His opponent in the U.S. senate race, State Auditor Hector Balderas, got 45 percent.
Both were well above the necessary 20 percent mark to automatically make the June primary ballot.
In the race for congressional district one, Eric Griego came out on top with 40 percent.
But his opponents, Martin Chavez and Michelle Lujan Grisham, gained enough votes to make the primary ballot.
In congressional district two it was a blow-out.
Evelyn Madrid Erhard came in with 87 percent.
In district three the same thing.
Incumbent congressman Ben Ray Lujan had 92 percent.
Whoever wins the June primary races will face their republican challengers in the November general election.
The Republican Party’s pre-primary convention is set for March 17th.
