Controversial roundabout needs fed's OK

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - The roundabout proposed in Albuquerque's North Valley and opposed by some who live in the area is not a done deal.

After a meeting where hundreds showed up Thursday night, the city must now resubmit its application to the federal government for the $1.5 million grant paying for project.

City Councilor Debbie O'Malley has said the project will move forward despite opposition.

Some residents claim it would cause more traffic problems; others say it will make the intersection of Rio Grande Boulevard NW and Candelaria Road safer.

The new application for the federal grant will be submitted in the next couple of weeks, and it could take several weeks for a response.
