ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - An Albuquerque girl is having a unique surgery Monday, the first of its kind for someone so young in New Mexico.
Albuquerque firefighters honored Alicia Jacquez a little over a week ago.
The 12-year-old has been fighting epilepsy since she was a baby.
Monday she will undergo an intense brain surgery in hopes of stopping the seizures.
Her family says although Alicia’s speech and memory may be affected by the surgery, they are willing to do what ever it takes to get their daughter healthy.
