ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Going back to school is a dread for kids, but also a dread for mom and dad having to buy all their items to go back to class.

New Mexico is just coming off the tax free holiday weekend, but a lot of items such as clothing shoes and computers are still on top for savings.

Some consumer websites such as dealnews.com say that laptops, which were close to $900 around June are now at around $650. Although those deals could get better by another $50 by October.

Summer is not over yet, if you're looking to get outdoors and take on some biking, this may be the time to get your hands on a new bike at a price cut.

As for college students, some places are having great deals on furniture or storage shelves that you can use when heading back to school.

If you want your music to go portable with you, many of the MP3 players may now be on sale before the new models come out in September.

The savings aren't only limited to back to school items. As the summer winds down, so will the yard work and if that mower got more of a work out then needed this year, it's a good time to pick up a new one for a good price.

Especially for the ladies, most stores are looking to get rid of the summer wear now to make room for the winter fashion that will hit the shelves later this year.
