UNM opens new hospital in Rio Rancho

RIO RANCHO, N.M. (KRQE) - The new UNM Hospital in Rio Rancho opens its doors Monday bringing the residents in that community a second hospital.
The 72-bed UNM Sandoval Regional Medical Center offers just about everything; family medicine, women’s health services, cardiology and general surgery.
While the center is not designated as a Level One Trauma Center, officials say they are fully capable of taking in any kind of critical patient that comes through the doors.
They will eventually pursue Level Three Trauma Care, a first for that area.
The hospital brings man technological advances as well.
It is Rio Rancho’s second new hospital in less than a year. Presbyterian opened the city’s first hospital late last year.
