The State Health Department says their seeing about seven percent of people going to the doctor with influenza type symptoms.
Last year at the peak of flu season we only saw 3.7 percent.
The state says there have also been 52 hospitalizations in Bernalillo County alone, that's compared to only two last year.
“I think there is heightened concern by population and by health care professionals because we are seeing more flu more hospitalizations what we relay want to do is prevent any severe outcomes and deaths so we are recommending everyone 6 months or older get vaccinated if haven't,” Dr. Joan Baumbach said.
State health officials say different people show different symptoms of the flu. Some get fever and chills, others severe congestion and sinus pain and others have stomach problems as a result.
