LAS CRUCES (AP) - Sen. Jeff Bingaman is slated to visit Las Cruces for a forum on health disparities issues along the U.S.-Mexico border.

The New Mexico Democrat is scheduled Wednesday to part in New Mexico State University's Jeffrey E. and Mary T. Brandon Distinguished Lecture Series on health disparities issues. He also is scheduled to visit the Las Cruces Farmers and Crafts Market in downtown Las Cruces.

Bingaman helped author the 1994 law that led to the creation the U.S.-Mexico Border Health Commission. That panel helped establish a number of initiatives to tackle health-related problems along the U.S.-Mexico border.
