ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - An 88-year-old woman trapped inside her burning home rescued by Albuquerque firefighters Sunday morning.

The fire broke out at around 8 o’clock in the woman's home on the 600 block of Solano Drive, in southeast Albuquerque.

A neighbor called 911 saying there was smoke coming from the roof.

Crews found the woman trapped in a back room.

The woman told crews she tried to get out a back door and a window but could not.

”At that point our adrenaline kind of gets going, especially if it's a fire where we hear someone might be trapped…that definitely gets us going,” Captain David Mowery said.

The woman was taken to a local hospital.

Her name has not been released.

Fire investigators say the fire may have been caused by a wood burning stove.
