LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) - New Mexico State University is beefing up its border studies program.
NMSU says it has hired Cornell Menking to be its first associate provost for international and border programs.
Menking comes to NMSU from Kentucky State University in Frankfort, where he was assistant vice president for international affairs.
His job will be to develop and implement strategic international partnerships and oversee programs like NMSU's Office of Study Abroad and the International Relations Institute.
He has also worked at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, the Universidad San Francisco de Quito in Ecuador and the University of New Mexico.
He speaks Spanish, Russian and West African Krio.
